Biography
Sarah Elmira Downs was born March 12, 1838 in Illinois. She was the daughter of Thomas Downs and Sarah Sally Soper Downs. [1]
On April 13, 1862, she married Charles Hathaway in Franklin County. [2]
In 1870, his family was in Franklin County, Illinois and consisted of Lydia, Mary J., Minerva, and Thomas Hathaway. They would add three more: Sarah, John, and Minnie before Charles died in 1876. In 1880, Sarah was in Frankfort, Illinois with her children. [3] [4]
Sarah Hathaway died February 7, 1923 in Johnston City, Williamson County, Illinois. She was buried in East Fork Cemetery, West Frankfort, Franklin County, Illinois. [5]
