Biography

Isaac McCullough Downs was born in 1819. He was the son of John Downs (John William) and Mary Louise McCullough; Married Amelda Bates 31 Oct 1839 Franklin Co., Alabama ^{[citation needed]} In 1860 he was a school teacher, in 1870 he was a lawyer, and in 1880 he was a county judge. He was named the first county judge of Zavala County in 1884 when they separated from Frio County's jurisdiction. He passed away in 1891.
