Biography

While I (Sheila McCarthy) was researching Doyle settlers of Hagerstown Valley, I found this post that says:

1. Peter Doyle (?) b.abt 1761 age 15 in 1776
2. Henry Doyle b.abt 1762 age 14 in 1776
3. John Doyle b.abt 1766 age 10 in 1776
4. Doruse (Doris) Doyle b.abt 1768 age 8 in 1776
5. Mararetha Doyle (Margaret) b. abt 1771 age 6 in 1776
6. George Doyle b. abt 1772 age 4 in 1776

The family of Adam Doyle was put together by deductive reasoning using the 1776 Census of Frederick Co Maryland Elizabeth 100. In that Census it appears that family groups were listed by age according to sex. By looking carefully at it the various families were in order according to when the census taker arrived at their various homes. Peter Doyle was the only one who did not appear to fall within a family group but his age fits with this family.

5 June 1855 Mrs. Margaret (Doyle) Carnes died at the residence of her son-in-law, Thomas Martin's of Beaver Creek. She was the sister of George Doyle, who died aged 82, and her father was one of the original settlers of Hagerstown Valley. source: History of Western Maryland

In 1790 was Adam Doyle and Abram Kerns (later Karns in 1800) were neighbours. Perhaps Abram Kerns is Margaret's husband????
