Edward was the son of John Drake of Northowram, Halifax. He must have been an adult by 15 October 1539 as on that date his father appeared at the manor court, Wakefield, to transfer property and land into Edward's name "to the use of Edward Drake son of the said John and the heirs of his body lawfully procreated". If he should have no heirs (he was not yet married) then the property would go to "John Drake and Humfrey Drake brothers of the said Edward".[1]
He was mentioned in his father's will 1544 and was left £22 and the residue of the estate. He was the sole executor.[2]
Edward married Agnes Brigge on 8 March 1545/1546 at Halifax, Yorkshire.[3][4]
He died in 1551 and was buried at Halifax on 4 August 1551 "Edward Dracke de Northowram".[5] He left a will dated 2 August 1551 and proved 23 September 1551, in which he mentions wife Agnes and sons Michael, Gilbert, and William.[6]
