Death report - [1]The Bendigo Independent (Vic. : 1891 - 1918) Tue 13 Dec 1904 - blood poisoning, LIFE LOST THROUGH A SCRATCH. A death under peculiar and pathetic circumstances occurred yesterday, a young girl named Mary Dredge, of Dingee, being the victim. The young lady, whose parents reside at Dingee, some time ago went to Eaglehawk, where she was learning the dressmaking trade. A few days ago she scratched a pimple on her face. inflamed a little, but no notice was taken of it. Erysipelas, however, came on, and Dr. Catford, of Eaglehawk, was consulted. The girl returned home about the middle of last week, but did not improve, blood poisoning finally setting in. She died yesterday.
