Carl wilhelm Drendel was born in Brandenburg, Prussia in 1792 and lived in the small village of bobersberg, 7 km west of Kossar. He earned his living as a shoemaker.
Shipping record indicate he was first married in 1814 and it is thought that Johanna Christiane Bertha Drendel was the child of this marriage. There are no detaols of this marriage.
Carl Wilhelm married Maria Dorothea Sophia Noack, born 1814 and child of Johann Noack and his wife Maria Elizabeth, nee Droescher. The union was blessed with five children who were all baptised in bobersberg as noted below,
