François de Dreux-Bretagne was born on May 11, 1414 in Vannes, duché de Bretagne. He was the son of Jean VI, duke of Brittany and Jeanne de France.[1][2] He succeeded his father in 1442 as François I, Duke of Brittany[1].
He married Yolande d'Anjou on August 20, 1431 in Amboise.[1] They had one child:

He had a daughter by an unknown mistress:
He died of dropsy on July 17, 1450 in château de l'Hermine near Vannes, and was buried at Saint-Sauveur abbey in Redon.[1][2]
