Biography

1776 Project
Sergeant Job Drew served with 4th Massachusetts Bay Provincial Regiment (1775), Continental Army during the American Revolution.

Probate Record

Job Drew, of Halifax, Plymouth County, wrote his will on May 12, 1832. [1] In it he names:

  • daughter Fanny Sampson
  • daughter Sophia Thomson
  • daughter Sukey ?Fund/Ford
  • son ?Job Drew Jr. [1]
  • executor, Thomas P. Beal [1]

I direct that my body be buried in the Kingston Burial Ground, 'where are buried several of my children.' [1]

  • 1775: April 20: Job Drew, Private in Captain Peleg Wadsworth's Kingston company of Minutemen, Colonel Cotton's regiment, which marched to Marshfield in response to the alarm of April 19, 1775; service 11 days. [2]
  • 1775: May 1: Enlisted: Sergeant on the muster roll of Captain Peleg Wadsworth's company, Colonel Theophilus Cotton's regiment . [2]
  • 1775: August 1: On the muster roll. [2]
  • 1775: August 17: Reported discharged. [2]
  • 1775: October 7: Company return dated October 7, 1775. [2]
  • 1777: March 27: Sergeant in Captain Ebenezer Washburn's company, Colonel Thomas Lothrop's regiment, Brigadier Joseph Cushing's brigade. Service 17 days. The company marched to Bristol, Rhode Island on an alarm. [2]
