Biography

Birth: Polly was born about 1801 in Tennessee, likely the daughter of Thomas Driggers and Matilda Wasden. She had four siblings, Daniel, Thomas Wasden, Lucinda, and Edith. Her brother Thomas Wasden married her husband's sister Matilda.

Married William Stanley on September 1, 1824 in Carmi, White County, Illinois.[1]

1850 Census: "Mary Stanley," 49, was living in District 13, White County, Illinois with her children William, 19, Romelia, 16, and Parler, 13. Her real estate was valued at $500, and she was listed born in Tennessee. An Isaac Driggers, 63, lives nearby, possibly related, as well as Crispus and Sarah Schnee, Mary's daughter and son-in-law.[2]

1855 Illinois Census: "Polly Stanley" was living in Township 3S Range 8E-Township 5S Range 14W, White County, Illinois with 5 people in the family - 2 free white males 20-30 (probably sons William and Romelia), 2 free white females 20-30 (probably daughter Paralee and dau-in-law Celia), and 1 free white female 50-60 (Polly herself). Militia: 1, value of livestock 6.11(?).[3]

Nothing more is known of Polly. It's assumed that she died between 1855 and 1860.
