Third son of Micajah Drinkwater and Amy Wyman. Seward and brothers Charles and Rufus were all ship captains lost at sea.

Three sons of Micajah Drinkwater were lost at sea:

Captain Charles Drinkwater, was 35 when lost at sea in 1848.
Captain Seward Drinkwater, was 24 when lost at sea in 1841.
Captain Rufus Drinkwater, was 24 when lost at sea in 1843
