Third son of Micajah Drinkwater and Amy Wyman. Seward and brothers Charles and Rufus were all ship captains lost at sea.
Three sons of Micajah Drinkwater were lost at sea:
- Captain Charles Drinkwater, was 35 when lost at sea in 1848.
- Captain Seward Drinkwater, was 24 when lost at sea in 1841.
- Captain Rufus Drinkwater, was 24 when lost at sea in 1843
