Research Notes

Joseph Henry Drinnin kept journals throughout his life, some of those survive to this day. He thought ahead and left a sum of money in his will for his journals to be transcribed after his death. Transcriptions of 1883-1915 were used by my mother, LaDonna Geiser English and myself to compile and publish, "A Nebraska Farmer's Journal: The Diary of Joseph Henry Drinnin 1883-1915," in 2011. We are direct descendants of Joseph Henry Drinnin. Subsequent journals 1916-1933 were located and provided to us by Grace Drinnin Gerrard. These are the original journals and we have transcribed and digitized them. They are being used to publish a second volume. Any references to his journals will simply be: JHD Journal, year, page. DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Joseph by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Joseph:
