Eleven was 12 years old when his father died. He then went to work on his Uncle Ben Shockley's farm for a wage of $40 a year, which he never received. He married 1) Lucinda Hamilton on 29 Mar 1838 at Highland, Ohio[1]and they made their home in Highland County. Among their children are:
Joseph, b. abt. 1850; m. Estella Myrick, dau. of George and Elizabeth (Butler) Myrick[3]
Mary Elizabeth, m. John W. Thomas/Thompson of Lynchburg[4];
Anne Eliza, died in 1850
Sarah Lydia, died at age 4
Henrietta Clarissa, b. 14 Mar 1855; m. Alonzo Smith; d. 24 Mar 1929[5]
Nancy Ellen, died in infancy
Lucinda died in 1858 and Eleven married 2) Harriet Dormand of Boone County, Kentucky on 13 Sep 1865 at Boone, Kentucky.[6] They moved to Utica, Clark County, Indiana. Among the children of Eleven and Harriet are:
Ellen, b. 17 Sep 1876; m. 1) Joseph Colvin[7] and 2) Carl Morris[8]; d. 13 Sep 1955[9]
Eleven returned to Highland County, Ohio before his death in 1889.
