Biography

"Born in the community of Long Creek, Henry was the son of J.A. and Weltha Owen Driver. He married Louise Smith. They had four daughters; Alta, Ollie Mae, Ruth and Ruby and one son, Henry Allen, who died in infancy. He is buried one mile S.E. of Bunger on a hill. (Born Approx. 1901)"

Contributed by Dorman Holub "Henry Allen Driver moved to Young County with his parents in 1875.

Henry Allen Driver married Louise Smith on 12 August 1900 at Glen Cove, Texas. They made their home at Bunger for six years after their marriage. Henry farmed and ran the Bunger Cotton Gin. In 1906, the couple moved to Graham where Henry worked as manager, night operator and bookkeeper for the Graham Independent Telelphone Company. The couple moved back to Bunger in 1910 where Henry and Uncle Dick Whittenburg bought the grocery store. Henry Driver ran the Bunger Cotton gin again while the family lived on his father's land, one mile south of Bunger.

In 1914, Henry Driver and Dick Whittenburg built a new grocery store and the Driver Family moved into the old store building until they could finish construction on their new home.

Henry Driver managed this store which included the Post Office for 13 years. In 1923, Henry moved his family back to Graham where he became the manager of the Oakland and Pontiac Auto Company. Henry Driver longed for the country life, so he moved family in 1932, while living on the farm, the Driver Hotel was sold to settle the estate of his father, John A. Driver, who passed away in 1933. Henry Driver moved his family back to Graham and traded his land for a grocery store. Albert ran the "Driver Grocery" Store for several years.

Henry and Louise were devout Baptists and members of the First Baptist Church."
