In May or June of 1917 he would confirm he was of a medium height and not stout, with black hair and brown eyes. At the time he was living in Liberty and working as a farmer, with no dependents[1]
He would be a member of Fuller's Methodist Church in Dismal, near the Dismal Cemetery[4]
He passed away on the 11th of October, 1918 in Romagne-sous-Montfaucon, Departement de la Meuse, Lorraine, France in World War I.
A memorial would be errected for him in the Dismal Cemetery in DeKalb county, Tennessee[5]. However his body was buried in the Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery, Romagne-sous-Montfaucon, Departement de la Meuse, Lorraine, France[6]
