Biography

Scottish flag
Eupheme (Drummond) Drummond Lady Fleming was born in Scotland.

Euphemia Drummond was the fifth daughter to Sir John Drummond of Cargill and Stobhall, later 1st Lord Drummond, and his wife, Elizabeth Lindsay, said to have been a daughter of Alexander Lindsay, fourth Earl of Crawford.[1]

She married John Fleming, 2nd Lord Fleming, before 5 May 1496, when they had a charter of the barony of Thankerton.

In 1502 she died, by poisoning, along with her sisters Margaret, one of four mistresses of James IV, and Sybella (d. unm.). Balfour Paul provides that they had five children: Malcom, 2nd Lord Fleming, Malcom, Prior of Withorn and James, along with 2 da. who he does not name.

Research Notes

Not sure the source, but she did not have the middle name "Katherine".

In Balfour Paul's discussion on Lord Fleming in Vol 8[2] he errors when he suggests she was the fifth daughter to David, Lord Drummond, he was her brother. Her parents are supported by the Complete Peerage entries on her father[3] and her husband[4]

According to profile managed by Gilly Wood, she was born in Cumbernauld, Lanarkshire and passed away on May 3, 1502. The pre-merged profile contained this biography: "Euphemia was born in Cumbernauld, Lanarkshire, Scotland. She died 1501 - Perth, Perthshire, Scotland. Her father was John Drummond. Her mother was Baroness Drummond Lindsey 1445-1519; Elizabeth (Lady de Crawford) LINDSEY, De Lindsay. She married John 2nd Lord Fleming, Chamberlain of Scotland Fleming 1465-1524

Daughter of John Drummond 1438-1513"

[5] Elizabeth (Lady de Crawford) LINDSEY, De Lindsay

It appears to me that there are some problems with this profile, such as the Elizabeth Fleming-9158 born in Dartmouth, Devon, England is shown as the daughter of this Lady Fleming, but Lady Fleming and all the Flemings are born, lived and died in Scotland.
