Biography

Magdalena,(#2) also known as Helena, was born November 8, 1713 and baptised (Kingston RDC) December 20. She married Josiah Elting on July 14, 1734.

They lived in what is now known as the Bevier-Elting House on Huguenot Street. In a tax list of 1765, Josiah appears as the wealthiest man in town. He was a Captain in the Revolutionary War. He was a liberal contributor to the Conferentie Church. His will 4-7-1767, pr. 5-19-1784 Ulster County Surrogate, names wife Magdalene, dec’d father Roelof, and his children: Abraham, Roelof J., Solomon, Cornelius, Catharyntje.[1]

Her father's will, dated 1756,[2] names his two daughters: Sara Helena, wife of Josiah Eltinge.[3]
