James Stuart Ducat was born in 1829 in Scotland, United Kingdom. He was the son of William Ducat and Mary Gray.
The family migrated to New South Wales (Australia).
James married Eliza Wynter on 26th January 1864 in Manning River, New South Wales. [1] Making their home at Macleay River, later known as Kempsey, New South Wales, the couple had eleven children:
Aged about 75 years, he passed away on 29th August 1904 and was buried in Gore Hill Cemetery, Plot: C of Eng., Sect: N, 128 [2]
