Pierre Ducharme, son of Pierre Charme and Judith Bruneau, was born possibly about 1755 in Montreal, Canada.[1][2]
He immigrated to Louisiana before 1809, but when or with whom is unknown.[3]
He married Marie Carmelite Rivet, daughter of Blaise Rivet and Marie Madeleine Noel, on 13 February 1809 at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church in Donaldsonville, Ascension Parish, Louisiana. Witnesses were Joseph Labille, Vital Rivet, and Michel Dugas.[1]
Their known children were:
Pierre was left a widower on 7 March 1847 in Grand Coteau, St. Landry Parish.[4]
He is probably the Pierre Ducharme who died on 9 July 1847 in St. Landry Parish, and was buried at the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic cemetery in Grand Coteau.[2]
His LNAB may be Charme, which is the spelling used in his marriage record to Carmelite Rivet. Most records after that for their children use the name Ducharme.
The cited 1847 death record has not been positively confirmed as his, but no other Pierre Ducharme that fits this family has been found. The death record was also used for his estimated date of birth. These dates need additional verification.
Note also that this leaves a large 50-year gap between his birth and marriage -- plenty of room for him to have had another family, possibly in Quebec. More research is needed for that period to discover more about his life.
