Louise (Ducharme) Chartrand was a Canadian First Peoples and member of the Métis Nation.
Louise Ducharme was born at Lake Manitoba on 2 Sep 1857 to Jean Baptiste Ducharme and Catherine Allary. Baptism took place at St. François Xavier on 12 Sep 1857, when she was ten days old.[1]
At the time of the 1870 census of Manitoba, their family was enumerated at Lake Manitoba.[2]
On 6 Sep 1875, Louise signed an affidavit claiming Métis scrip.[3]
Louise married Alexandre Marie McLeod (son of Abraham McLeod and Cecile Lariviere). At the time of the 1881 census of Canada, they were enumerated along with their daughter Cecile at Woodlands, Marquette, Manitoba, where Alexandre Marie was occupied as a hunter. Louise's brother Jacques and his family resided at a neighbouring household.[4]
Alexandre Marie passed away in 1889. Louise married Michel Chartrand (son of Pierre Chartrand and Marie Pangman) at St. Laurent, Manitoba on 7 Feb 1893.[5]
