Kendrick Lamar is an American rapper, songwriter and record producer, and winner of the 2018 Pulitzer Prize for music.[1]
Kendrick Lamar Duckworth, son of Kenny Duckworth and Paula Oliver, was born in 1987 in Los Angeles, California.[2][3] He was raised in Compton, California along with 3 brothers and a sister. Kendrick attended Centennial High School in Compton.
He rose to fame with his 2012 album, "Good Kid, M.A.A.D City", which hit No. 1 on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.[4]. He earned his first GRAMMYs in 2014 for Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song. As of February 2022, he has received 13 GRAMMY Awards and 39 nominations.[4]
Kendrick has a daughter, born in 2019, with his long-time fiancee.[5]
