Biography

William Alexander Duckworth was born on October 11, 1878[1] in Missouri. He was the son of William Goforth Duckworth and Eliza Jane (Ely) Duckworth.[1]

He married Mary Jane Buttram on May 24, 1898, in Ozark Co., Missouri.[2] They had 5 children.

  1. Minnie Cora Lou Duckworth (1900-1938)[3]
  2. Armilda M Duckworth (1902-1992)[4]
  3. Jesse J Duckworth(1907-1929)[4]
  4. Lester D Duckworth (1910-1972)[4])[5]
  5. Nellie Duckworth (1913-) (1913-1990)[5]

In 1900 They were making their first home in Marion Twp., Ozark Co., Missouri, with their first born Minnie C-3 months, and their nephew Mike Donohue- 9 in their home.[3] They were still on their farm in Marion Twp., Ozark Co., Missouri, in 1910, where William was farming and she was tending the home and raising the children, Cora-10, Armelda-8, Jessie-3, and Lester, 3 months old. [4] By 1930, they had moved to Beaver, Taney Co., Missouri, to farm with Lester-20 and Nellie/Nella-16 still in the home.[5] In 1940 it was just the two in the home with William working as a merchant in a General Store.[6]

His wife Mary died on March 26, 1956, at the age of 76, in Ava, Douglas Co., Missouri, and was buried in the Otter Creek Cemetery, in Thornfield, ozark Co., Missouri. They had been married 57 years.

He died on April 3, 1962, at the age of 83, in Springhille, Douglas Co., Missouri and was buried in the Otter Creek Cemetery, next to his wife, in Thornfield, Ozark Co., Missouri.[1]
