Hosea Dudley was born July 31, 1798 in Pitt County, North Carolina. He married Martha Outlaw of Hertfort, NC; and they had two girls, Francis "Fannie" Elizabeth Dudley (b. about 1844), and Susan Ann Dudley (b. 1849). He was head of household in 1870, with his wife, and daughter Susan's family living with them in St. John's Township, Hertford, NC. Hosea died May 10, 1880, and was buried in Aulander, Bertie, North Carolina.
