Winifred was born[1] and baptised in 1888 in Eastrington, Yorkshire, England,[2] where she lived with her parents, John Dudley and Katharine Roe, in 1891.[3]
Her father died in 1900 at the age of 38.[4] In 1901 Winifred lived with her mother in Eastrington.[5] She worked as a dressmaker in 1911.[6]
