Biography
Robert was educated at King's College, Aberdeen ( MA in 1928) and became schoolmaster of Glass and Rhynie 1835-1840. He was appointed assistant at St Andrew's British Guiana in 1840 and admitted to St Mary's Sept.1841. He exchanged charges with Andrew Easton St Mark's in 1845 and translated to All Saints in 1854. He resigned in 1859 and died at New Amsterdam 1878. He married Catherine Struthers, daughter of James Struthers D.D, minister of St Andrew's, British Guiana, and had issue Robert Struthers Duff, James Duff, Donald Duff, William Duff, Isabella Duff, Mary Esther Duff, and Jane Duff.

The book "Bones of Empire" by Brian J Orr has a biography of Robert Duff on page 248. Brian Orr sourced information from The Fastii Ecclesiae Scoticanae which has long been a source of information about the "sons of the manse"
