Biography

Martine (aka Mathilde) Duff was born and baptized on 25 Feb 1818 in St-Jean-Baptiste parish in Nicolet. She was the daughter of Jean Duff and Marguerite Pinard. Godparents at Mathilde's baptism were her uncle Pierre Rêche and Anastasie Rouillard. At age 15 Mathilde married Guillaume Caya on 28 Jan 1834 in St-Frédéric parish in Drummondville. There were three known children born into this marriage.
