Cyrus Bryson Duff was born on the farm whereon he now resides, in Penn township, Allegheny county, Pennsylvania, April 11, 1848. His early education was acquired in the township schools, and later he pursued a course in Shaffer's Business College, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He then returned to the homestead farm, where he at first gave his attention to the raising of grain and hay, and later engaged in the raising of general garden produce, continuing along this line up to the present time (1914). In former years considerable coal was taken out of his property, this adding considerably to his income therefrom, and there is still some of that necessary article there, although the supply is constantly diminishing. Mr. Duff was reared in the faith of the United Presbyterian church, and at the present time he and his family hold membership in the Hebron United Presbyterian Church. He is a man of honor and integrity, active in community affairs, respected and esteemed by all with whom he is brought in contact.

Mr. Duff married, January 14, 1874, Margaret Ellen McNary, born in Snowden township. Allegheny county, Pennsylvania, March 2, 1846, daughter of William Hill and Elizabeth (Holmes) McNary. Children of Mr. and Mrs. Duff: Daisy Lloyd, born July 8, 1878; Bessie Trax, born April 7, 1880.
