Biography

Richard was born in Clooneigh, Tulsk, Roscommon, Ireland in 1840-43. He was the son of Jeremiah Dufficy and Sarah Elwood.

He was a Farmer.

He met & married Alicia Giblan in the RC Church of Belanagare, Castlerea, Roscommon, Ireland on Feb 21, 1881. Witnesses at this marriage were Patrick Rogers and Eleanor Giblin.

In the 1901 Ireland Census he is found, age 57, residing in house 7 in Clooneigh (Tulsk, Roscommon) with his wife Alicia (49) and their children Sarah Anne (16), Hanoria K (14), Alicia M (9), Richard John (7) & Patrick Joe (3).

In the 1911 Ireland Census he is found, age 72, residing in house 7 in Clooneigh (Tulsk, Roscommon) with his wife Alicia (60) and his children Hanoria (26), Bridget (25), Richard (19), Mary (17), Margaret (16) & Patrick (12). All children are listed as single with the census indicating that Richard and Alicia had 10 children with 8 surviving by 1911. Gerard & Martin had both passed away in 1894.

Richard passed away in Clooneigh, Tulsk, Roscommon, Ireland on Oct 29, 1924, age 84 with his son Richard present at his death
