Lea Dufour was born on 14 May 1916 in Fort Kent, Aroostook, Maine. She was the daughter of George Dufour and Alice Babin.

Lea married Oliver Patrick Barber.

Lea M (Dufour) Barber died at age 74 on 20 Mar 1991 in Plattsburgh, Clinton, New York; she was buried in Saint John's Cemetery in Keeseville, Clinton, New York.
