He and his wife, Azelie (Azelia) Armand Dufour are both buried in St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Cemetery in Mansura. In front of his grave there is another tombstone that indicates he was a Confederate soldier in Company D of the 18th Louisiana Infantry. The men of that regiment fought in the Battle of Shiloh in 1862. He was a prisoner of war and was paroled at Alexandria LA June 27, 1865.
