Thomas Dufty was the son of Joseph Dufty, coal miner, and Ann Baldwin. He was baptised on 26 December 1830, at Parkend, Whitecroft, Gloucestershire. [1]
Marriage and family
In 1852 he married Louisa Craddock, in Gloucestershire, and they had five sons and three daughters. [2]
Emigrated to New Zealand
In 1862 with his wife and daughter, onboard the Queen of Mersey, the family left London for Lyttleton, New Zealand.
Their children were:
Samuel and Thomas (Auckland), Joseph (Hikuai), William and John (Parawai), Annie (married 1890 James Corbett, Parawai), Louisa (married 1899 Herbert Syms, Parawai), and the late (1921) Elizabeth Frances Dufty (married 1882 Charles James Winder).
