Brian was almost always a drinking man but in later years it became worse and he became an alcoholic, so much of his money he made went for liquor. Brian never did remarry and was hit and killed by atruck in California at an early age.

His sister Goldie was notified of his death being the sister, but she refused to pay to have the body sent back to Iowa for a decent burial. So Brian was buried in California. Because of this alot ofthe family stopped seeing Brians sister and refused to talk to her for quite a few years.
