Nicolas was named along with two of his sons Mathurin and Martin on the marriage records of his granddaughter Julienne Coiffé at La Rochelle in 1636. He is found in the records of Sainte-Croix of Nantes with his wife Louise Raguideau, both named as the parents of two children baptized there; a son Mathurin baptized 24 February 1611[1] and a daughter Noelle. Three other children of Nicolas are known -Jeanne, Marin and Martin. Sainte-Croix was the parish where two of his daughter Jeanne's children were baptized.

Du premier lit naquit:
Nicolas' year of birth was adjusted from 1539, a previous guess based on the guessed year of his daughter Jeanne's birth. With her birth re-evaluated to 1598 based on her burial record, a date of 1570 for Nicolas' birth seems reasonable.
Text from Dugas-408 was merged into Dugast-18. Text above shows spelling was Dugast.
