Martin Dugas was born around 1656 in Port Royal.[1] He was the son of Abraham Dugas and Marguerite Doucet.
The 1671 census of Port-Royal lists Martin Dugas, age 15, living with his father Abraham, a gunsmith age 55, his mother age 46, and his 7 siblings. The family owned 15 "arpents" of land, 19 head of cattle and 3 sheep.[2]
Martin was about 21 years of age when he married Marguerite Petitpas, daughter of Claude Petitpas and Catherine Bugaret, around 1677. Marguerite was about 16 years of age. They had two children: Abraham and Marguerite.[1]
The Dugas family appeared in the 1678 census of Port-Royal.[3]
Martin died around 1680 in Port Royal at the age of about 24, leaving Marguerite widowed at age 19, with two children under the age of 2.[1]
