Biography

From his age at death, John Duggan was born about 1818.

Marriage. In 1842, John married Mary Dwyer in what was then the Port Phillip District, Colony of New South Wales. In 1851, this became the Colony of Victoria. ^[1]

Death. John died 5th August 1893, at Shepparton, Victoria, aged 75. When John's death was registered, the informant appears to have given their own parents, instead of those of the deceased, naming John's parents as John Duggan and Mary Dwyer. ^{[8] [9]}

Residences. According to his widow's1911 obituary, the Duggan family arrived in Kilmore in the 1840s. There, they resided in a house about a mile from the town but left it because it was haunted. Later the family moved to the Bald Hills, Glenburnie, and after years spent in that quarter, removed to the Goulburn Valley. While it was not specifically mentioned by name, Shepparton is in the Goulburn Valley. ^[10]
