Biography

Catherine Duguid was born 03 Apr 1848 in Tullynessle, the daughter of Robert Duguid and Jane/Jean Wilson. In the 1851 census, 2 year old Catherine is living with her parents and siblings at Muckletown in Tullynessle. In the 1871 census, 23 year old Catherine, a Domestic Servant, is living with her widowed Mother and brother William along with 2 nephews at Muckletown. In the 1881 census, Catherine was working as a Domestic Servant for the James Reid family at No. 3 High St in Alford. Catherine married widower James Reid on 23 May 1883 in Drumoak. In the 1891 census, Catherine and James are living at Village Croft in Alford with their daughter Amy and James' children Andrew and Francis. Catherine's husband James died in 1916 and Catherine died 05 Aug 1926, age 78. Catherine and James are listed on a gravestone at the Kirkyard of Alford along with James first wife Martha Lawson and James and Martha's children James, Agnes E, and Martha.
