  • It appears "the Elder" is being used in the same context as "Sr.", rather than him being a church Elder. There was another John Duke in Brunswick County during this era.
  • This individual, John Duke, has been proven through yDNA study at ftDNA to be part of group 2, aka, Isle of Wight Co VA Duke Family, not the Henrico Co VA Duke Family as previous published documents showed. As of 08/19/2020, the earliest known Isle of Wight Co VA ancestor established is John Duke Sr..
  • John Duke the Elder died in Warren County, NC in 1784. His will was written on January 10, naming his wife Ruth, his sons Simon, Joel, and Benjamin, and his daughter Tabitha Parrish. EDB The Duke Family p. 377.

Duke-2981 and Duke-1177 do not represent the same person because: My profile Duke-2981 has been changed by someone to match Duke-1177. It is not correct and not the original profile I entered. My original Duke-2981 is a younger man born about 1725, died before 1784, was a proved Loyalist, his wie was named Esther. They had only three boys, Elijah who died early, MosesDuke of Barnwell, SC, and John Duke of TattnallI, GA. I have South Carolina historical records to prove all of this. I want to see their historical data to prove otherwise. I want the perpetrators to restore the original Duke-2981 or at least agree not to change my data if I reenter it.

Duke-2981 and Duke-1177 do not represent the same person because: Topher, please change this back the way it was. Your new information does not fit the historical data. The new birth date has him serving in the Revolutionary war at the age of 81. This John Duke had only 3 proved sons: Elijah, Moses and John. This John Duke was the son of Benjamin Duke. He was born circa 1725, not 1699, his wife was named Mary Unknown. And stop changing my data without checking with me first.
