Catherine Dumouchel was born on 12 Jun 1827 and was baptized the next day in Saint-Joachim parish in Chäteauguay, Bas-Canada. She was the daughter of Vital Dumouchelle and his wife Felicité Bourcier. Godparents at Catherine's baptism were Jean Baptiste Dumouchel and Catherine Lavigne. At age 22 Catherine married Jean Baptiste Chevrefils on 18 Feb 1851 in Châteauguay. There were six known children born into this marriage.
