The census entry showed that Nelson was born in Mar 1872. He had been married for less than a year. His place of birth, as well as that of his father and mother, was Virginia. He was a farm laborer.1 Nelson was able to read and write and he spoke English. He rented the house the family lived in.1

The census entry showed that Nelson rented the home the family lived in and they lived on a farm. They did not have a radio set to enjoy. Nelson was 32 years old when he first married. He was able to read and write and he spoke English. His place of birth, as well as that of his father and mother, was Virginia. Nelson worked on his own account as a farmer in general farming.
