John (Dunbar) Dunbar Earl of Fife is a member of Clan Dunbar.
Biography
A charter of King David II grants to John de Dunbar and Isabel, Countess of Fife, the Earldom with all its pertinents.[1][2] He died before 1371. His parentage appears to be unknown but doubtless from THE Dunbar family.
Research Notes
A John Dunbar married Isabelle, Countess of Fife, as her fourth husband. His parents are not stated. See: Scots Peerage, Vol 4, pg. 13
People of Medieval Scotland Database: has no records relating to John Dunbar, Earl of Fife
Bernard Burke's History of dormant, etc of the the British empire identifies two sons of Patrick Dunbar and Marjory Comyn: Patrick and George; no John. That said, this entry of Burkes is entirely inaccurate as it gives Patrick Earl of Dunbar and 'Black' Agnes as having children when they died without surviving issue (one child who died young).
Medlands1 and Medlands2 give this John as son of Patrick and his first wife, Ermgarde; but notes it is a guess given they appear to be the best fit.
