He married Dorothy Moss, on 29 Nov 1963 in Las Vegas, NV and passed away on 20 January 1973 in Phoenix, Maricopa Co., AZ. He is buried along side his wife in Resthaven East Park Mortuary and Cemetery, Phoenix, AZ.
The 1930 United States Census shows a 13 year old Walter living with his mother, father and younger siblings in Kenilworth, Pinal County, AZ. His family had relocated to Arizona approximately in 1924. He would later go on to learn to be a vehicle mechanic as a young man, and as most, be drafted or enlist in the military during World War II. After his discharge, he would live in Tucson for a while, and eventually relocate to his old stomping grounds of Phoenix, AZ.
In Walter's World War II Draft Registration Card, his place of birth is listed as Altus, OK and his residence as Coolidge, AZ. He is listed as 5 feet 5 inches and approximately 130 lbs, with grey eyes, brown hair and a light complexion. His enlistment date was 2 Nov 1942 and he is cited as having a grammar school level of education and as being a semiskilled mechanic and repairmen of motor vehicles. His release Date was 11 Oct 1945 and he was discharged as a Lieutenant according to his obituary.
