Slightly wounded at Fair Oaks, Virginia, May 31, 1862. Commanded the pioneers who destroyed the railroad bridge over the Chickahominy River, June 28, 1862. Promoted to 2nd lieutenant of Company H, May 1, 1863. Mustered out as 1st lieutenant November 18, 1864.
