Death Estimate Before Feb 1794 Caswell County, North Carolina
Discrepancy
No original source records have been located to confirm birth or marriage records. It appears that some erroneous information may have been published, and perhaps republished/reported, making the “actual facts” obscure. There is a great deal of conflicting information surrounding the Duncan Families in North Carolina – Many Source-to-Source discrepancies; co-mingling of records, Lack of records; conflicting family stories; number of Duncan’s with the same names, inter-marriages, etc.
There are several Duncans that seem to originate from Albermarle Parish -- many named Nathaniel, Daniel, David etc. Therefore, it is recommended that researchers perform their own thorough analysis of the different family lines.

↑ Was Alexander Stinson's wife Sally's maiden name Duncan or Anderson?
(1) Alexander's will (Caswell Co. NC Will Book A, p. 182, March 1782) names wife Sarah, daughter Nancy, father John, and grandfather Childress.
(2) Mary Duncan's will (Person Co. NC Will Book 1, p. 268, Sep 1796) names daughter Sally Staneton and is signed by Nancy Stinson. In the list of Mary's children, Sally is first, perhaps indicating that she was oldest child. Also Nancey Stenson married John Morgan on 27 Sep 1796 in Caswell County.
(3) Joseph Merritt, a descendant of Daniel and Mary Duncan, wrote in a family sketch in the 1890's, that Mary Duncan, nee Capehart, was widow Anderson when she married Daniel Duncan.); When Daniel's estate was divided, there was no mention of a daughter Sally.
