James Duncan was born on 18 October 1830 and baptised on 16 November 1830 in Markinch, Fife, Scotland, United Kingdom.[1] He was the son of Thomas Duncan and Agnes Dryburgh. He passed away in 1905. He was buried in Fredonia, NY
Obituary 12/26/1905, The Evening Observer, Dunkirk, NY Death of James Duncan Old Resident of the City, Once Superintendent of the Brooks Works James Duncan, one of Dunkirk's older citizens, died this morning at his home, number 1 North Roberta Road after a brief illness. He was 77 years and two months old. For 50 years Mr. Duncan has been a resident of Dunkirk. He was a machinist by trade and was considered a very fine mechanic. He served for some time as superintendent of the Brooks Locomotive Works. He had many friends among the older citizens who will cherish his memory. He is survived by seven children James Duncan of Buffalo; Thomas Duncan of South Beagle Street; John Duncan of West 3rd Street; Robert Duncan and David Duncan of South Eagle Street; Mrs. William Wagner and Earle Duncan of number one Roberts Road. Mr. Duncan was born in Edinboro, Scotland and was twice married. The funeral will be held at 2:30 up upon Thursday afternoon from the family home, number 1 North Roberta Road, the burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
