Biography

James Duncan II was born in 1876 in San Francisco. He lived there with his parents, brother and half sister. [1] His father passed away before he turned 5 years old.

He married Inez Rivas, someone he met while working at Levi-Strauss, the Jean company. He worked as a cook. In 1901 his family moved to Seattle. He worked as a cook at the Seattle Mercantile Club in 1903. He was a cook at the Wilbers Cafe in 1906 and Mancas Cafe in 1907. He also cooked boxed lunches. He was back in San francisco in 1912. He filled out a Seaman’s Protection Cerificate in 1916 and he worked as a cook on the ship S.Schn Sea foam. The ship departed March 18th 1918. He passed away November 6th 1918 after contracting syphilis. [2]
