John Duncan ("The Elder") is supposed to have been the immigrant ancestor of this line of Duncans. He received a grant of 250 acres of land in Billerica Mass. May 10 1670; reportedly from Ireland.
John and Johanna (Joanna) (Joanna (Jefts) were married in Billerica MA Feb 23 1674 [1]
Joanna Jefts, b. May 14, 1656, dau. of Henry Jefts and Hannah (Boths?) (immigrant).
John probably died about 1690 (Middlesex Estate index shows: Dunkin, John, Billerica, 1691, Administration, 6504,
[2] Joanna may have remarried. Benjamin Dutton to Joanna Dunkin, (wid) July 1, 1690, Billerica, Middlesex Co. (Vol.3, pg.9). [3]
There are some conflicting stories regarding his death -- he died of smallpox -- Joanna remarried -- she and two of her children were killed by indians in 1691. Johanna's daughter may have been the Johanna who married 2nd to Benjamin Dutton.

John Duncan, son of John Duncan and Johanna Jett, was born 28 OCT 1678 in Billercia Worchester Ma [11][12]
John married June 16 1701 Sarah, daughter of John Dutton (Dutten) of (Woburn MA)[1]
John and wife Sarah deeded to son John Jr. Feb 10, 1731-32 part of the homestead on North Brook.
John died at Worcester Dec 15, 1739 (aged 67.)
Probate
The will of John Duncan of Worcester, weaver was dated 30 November 1739, and proved 5 February 1739/40 in Worcester. He mentioned his wife Sarah, and his children, Simeon Dunkin, John Duncan, Samuel Duncan, Daniel Duncan, Sarah Parmenter, Abigail Duncan, and his grandchild, Rebecca, daughter of his daughter Joanna, and his son in law James Haws.
His inventory was taken on 29 December 1739 in Worcester.[13]
In 1741, an account of his estate by his widow Sarah was recorded which included inventory sold, doctor, debts paid, and administration fees.[14]
