Edward was born in 1884.[1][2][3]
He was married to Jane Church in October 1911 at St Georges Church, Kiltoghert Co Leitrim, Ireland.[4][5]
During WWI he joined the British Army as a Chaplain and was commissioned into the Army Chaplains Department as a tempoary chaplain to the forces, 4th class on the 5th May 1915.[6] He was awarded the Military Cross in November 1916[7]
He was killed in action in France the 11th March 1917. [8][9][10][11][12] and was buried in Faubourg-d'Amiens Cemetery[13]
The citation for his Military Cross reads[7]
Rev. Edward Francis Duncan, temp. Chapl. to the Forces, 4th Class, A. Chapl. Dept. For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to ,duty. Although himself wounded, he rescued a wounded officer under very heavy fire, displaying great courage and determination.
At the time he was attached to 103 Brigade, 34th Division, sadly three and a half months later he lost his life whilst attending to a wounded man in the field.
There is a memorial to him in Kilflynn church, Ballyorgan , Limerick, Ireland[14]
