Death
Lewis Duncan, 82, was burned to death April 15th following an attempt to burn the sedge grass from a field near his home in Indian Valley district near Strong's store.
He had been away from home for severl hours when his daughters, the Misses Ocie and Lena Duncan, became uneasy over his absense and went to the field and found his body in a fence corner. He had a pine gough in his hand and had been fighting the fire and probably sank down exhausted in a fence corner the flames catching a rail fence.
Dr. Shelton Carey and J. H. Poff, commonwealth's attorney, visited the scene but a coroner's jury was not deemed neccessary under the circustances.
Dr. Duncan is survived by six daughters and a son. Burial was April 16th.
