Biography

Alexander Duncan was baptised 23 November 1677, the second son of Alexander Duncan and Anna Drummond. Alexander Duncan married Isabel Murray, 30 April 1702, Lundie & Fowlis. Alexander Duncan died in 2 January 1719.

Parish Records of Lundie and Fowlis (Baptism given - no Death records given) No Will/Estate record to prove or disprove children (Peerage only identifies Alexander and William)

  • Eldest son Alexander identified (b.1703) (nat. 1703 ob. circa 1765), was a valued public official in Dundee)
  • Second son William identified (b.1707) (created a Baronet in 1754, but died without issue)
  • Patrick - Discrepancy 1705 & 1706 / Duplicate Name - Conflicting baptism dates with no death source given; more research and/or sources with explanations required. There may have been two Patrick's one born 1705 - died before 1706 and another Patrick born in 1706; see profile for transcriptions. No will record for Father (Alexander) to indicate if either Patrick reached maturity
