Biography

Giles was born in 1844. He was the son of William Duncan and Amanda Hutsell. Private Giles Michell Duncan served in Company "D," 81st Regiment, Illinois Volunteer Infantry, and died in the service February 14, 1863. He was originally interred at Elmwood Cemetery, Memphis, Tennessee on February 15 1863; he now rests at Memphis National Cemetery (aka Mississippi River National Cemetery), Memphis, Shelby County, Tennessee.[1] [2]
