-- Both Marshall's wife and son, John, were referenced in the 1739 Land Transaction with Daniel Marr. Marshall may have been an Immigrant and already Married as early as 1718 - 1721 (1739 minus 21 or 1739 minus 18 = 1721), (Tithables were white males age 16 and older)
John Duncan, son of Marshall and Mary Ann, was born before 1739, probably in Prince William Co. VA[1]
John married Roseannah (Unknnown). Exact date and place are unknown, but possibly before 1739. John and Roseannah apparently had no children.
John's widow, Roseannah, married 2nd William Stevenson. Roseannah died about 1825 in Washington Co. TN.
Roseannah Stevenson's will [2] mentioned her former husband, John Duncan, and in accordance with his will dated 17 July 1776, left the real estate which her second husband was then in possession of, to be "equally divided between
Joseph Duncom Junior of Rice Duncom and
Rice Duncom Jr and Marvel Duncom sons of Joseph Duncom Sen. which is brothers to the said John Duncom their children which I make legatees descendant heirs of the said John Duncan" and left her personal estate and slaves to
Stacy Melvin, formerly Stacy Duncan, a daughter of Charles Duncan who was a brother to John Duncan; . . . .appointed "my friend" James Melvin as executor, and the will was witnessed by William Grimsley, John English and Joseph Crouch.
John died after 1794 [3] His will dated 17 July 1776 has not been located in either Sullivan or Washington Co. TN.[4]
1739 - Land Transaction in Prince William County. Daniel Marr leased 100 acres of land to Marshall Duncan, his wife Ann, and his son John. [5]
1751 - in "Granville Co." NC - Undated tax list as as a tithable, along with his father.[6]
1751 - Tax list on the Dan River, as "Marshall Doncom; John Doncom, 2".
1768 - Rowan Co NC; separate listings for "John Dunkam Constable. [7]
1771, 1772, and 1774 - in Surry Co. as a tithable
1776 - in Surry Co. NC 1776 when he witnessed his father's will.
1778 - in Washington Co. TN (tax list);
1781-1783 - in Washington or Sullivan Co. TN
1790 - land next to Isaac Titsworth on the falling branch of Horse Creek, Sullivan Co. TN .
